The Racing sails materials
Fabrics designed to offer you the highest quality
The two suppliers selected by Delta Voiles, Dimension Polyant and Contender, manage the entire production process, from fiber spinning to weaving and finishing, ensuring the highest possible quality in racing sails.
THE MEMBRANES
D4 fabrics are defined by their innovation, quality, and performance. In fact, they are constructed with fibers strategically placed where stress is greatest. As a result, D4 meets the expectations of all competitive sailors.
Thanks to its acquisition by Incidence Group in 2018, DELTA Voiles is one of only three sailmakers in the world capable of offering sails utilizing these technologies.
The Filmless membrane offers a lighter and more flexible membrane. It consists of film-free taffeta with remarkable adhesion and lamination resistance. The films are replaced by industrially pre-impregnated outer taffetas. Liquidated by heat, the adhesive saturates the composite and provides flawless cohesion. This makes for a very robust and reliable membrane. This material is perfectly suited for cruising and racing boats.
Thus, Filmless membranes are more flexible and lighter than “traditional” taffeta, due to the absence of film.
DFI FILAMENT MEMBRANE
DELTA Voiles is now one of only three sailmakers in the world capable of designing filament membrane sails.
Thanks to its acquisition by Incidence Group in 2018, DELTA Voiles has access to Incidence Technologies’ products (manufactured in France) and can offer you sails made from DFi® or DFi FIT®.
The DFi® filamentary membrane consists solely of strips of prepreg filaments: tapes. These tapes cover the entire surface of the material. This eliminates the need for film and/or taffeta, resulting in weight savings, improved shape retention, and greater durability.
XRP SPORT
Challenge Sailcloth’s XRP Sport is a high-performance fabric designed for “cruising-performance” or “club racing” sails with a performance-oriented cut.
Its design is based on the XRP construction, featuring high-tenacity black-coated polyester fibers, and incorporates robust, precision-laminated fill-X inserts at angles ranging from 0 to 60 degrees.
This evolution of XRP offers excellent resistance to UV rays, stretching, and tearing.
SUPERKOTE
CONTENDER
The polyurethane coating ensures high stability, low weight, 0% porosity, and excellent water repellency.
In addition to this polyurethane coating, Dynakote 60 and 75 fabrics are treated with nano-silicones.
The result is an extremely smooth surface, which means you can hoist and lower your sail more quickly, and therefore gybe faster and more easily. Finally, their excellent water repellency keeps your spinnaker dry and light for longer.
MAXIKOTE
CONTENDER
Maxikote spinnaker fabric is woven from polyester yarns and finished with a highly stable and durable polyurethane coating.
As a result, this fabric has very low elasticity and maintains its shape well due to its minimal stretch. The stability and weight range of the Maxikote series are designed so that your boat can combine compatible fabric panels of different weights to achieve the best strength-to-weight ratio for your spinnaker.
PE BLACK
POLYANT DIMENSION
The unique feature of the PE line lies in its construction using so-called PEN filaments, which makes it an incredibly low-stretch product.
The PE line’s laminates boast approximately 30 to 40% less elongation than their standard PX polyester counterparts.
These robust materials are produced with our well-known X-PLY® reinforcement and are sure to appeal to the sailboats of your choice, as they are perfectly laminated and feature Dimension-Polyant’s proven, reliable, and unique UV protection.
DIMENSION-POLYANT is the only company in the world to manufacture its high-end sailcloth entirely in-house. Since sailcloth is Delta Voiles’ sole product line, they have invested in specialized production equipment for weaving, finishing, and lamination.
FLEX SPORT
POLYANT DIMENSION
This line features Lite Skin technology for the range of horizontally cut laminates. Lite Skin is a protective matrix made of non-woven filaments.
This laminate has a flexible composite structure with minimal film shrinkage and superior abrasion resistance, while its dark, opaque appearance gives it a technical yet stylish look.
DIMENSION-POLYANT is the only company in the world to manufacture its high-end sail fabrics entirely in-house. Since sail fabric is Delta Voiles’ sole product line, they have invested in specialized production equipment for weaving, finishing, and laminating.
CZ KEVLAR
DIMENSION POLYANT
This Code Zero sail is always ready for racing. It was developed to provide a specialized gennaker material capable of sailing up to 55° of true wind angle in light winds or reaching in moderate winds or a breeze.
A Code Zero is similar to an asymmetric spinnaker, but its shape is flatter, so it is often used more like a light genoa.
However, traditional spinnaker fabrics are too stretchy and therefore do not perform well in the targeted conditions; this super-lightweight laminate line addresses that need.
DIMENSION-POLYANT is the only company in the world to manufacture its high-end sail fabrics entirely in-house. Since sail fabric is Delta Voiles’ sole product line, they have invested in specialized production equipment for weaving, finishing, and laminating.
